Candidate Statements and Endorsements

The Nominating and Elections Committee (“The Committee”) has approved candidates who have not only demonstrated leadership capabilities, but more importantly have seriously considered their goals for NAPABA, the challenges and opportunities they see facing NAPABA in the coming year, and how they anticipate accomplishing them. Each candidate has set forth his/her vision for NAPABA in a personal statement, which is available online at Please note that you must be signed-in on the NAPABA website in order to view candidate statements, bios, and submit endorsements.

NAPABA believes that the active participation of members, affiliates, and national associates is essential to a vibrant and progressive organization and encourages the engagement of its members in the nomination and election process. To facilitate the involvement of members and related entities, NAPABA provides for an endorsement process by which members can inform one another about candidate qualifications and support candidates. Any individual, affiliate, national associate, or other entity (except for the current members of the Committee and NAPABA staff) may endorse any candidate. Further, although no individual member of the Committee shall officially endorse any candidate, a member may provide information regarding any candidate. Candidate materials, including candidate statements, may contain a list of endorsements. Candidate endorsements may be submitted online on each candidate’s statement page.

Voting Deadline: Before 5 p.m EDT on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015

All votes must be received before midnight PDT (i.e., by 11:59 p.m. PDT) on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015. An electronic ballot will be sent to every eligible member's email address of record. The next edition of the NAPABA Lawyer Newsletter (to be distributed later this month) will include a ballot for members who prefer to vote by paper ballot. Paper ballots representing an individual’s vote must show the name of the individual voting (preprinted, handwritten, or typed) and must be postmarked or facsimile time-stamped no later than the deadline in order to be counted.

Voter Eligibility

Only members in good standing as of July 22, 2015, are eligible to vote in NAPABA elections. Members must be admitted to the practice of law and (a) be in good standing with the bar of any state, territory, or province of the United States, the District of Columbia, or Canada, or (b) have heretofore met the requirements in category (a) and currently be retired. Associate members–which include law students, paralegals, and legal assistants–are not eligible to vote.

At-Large Board Member Candidates

The NAPABA Board of Governors will appoint two At-Large Board Members to each serve a two-year term that will begin in the 2015-2016 bar year. The NAPABA Nominating & Elections Committee will circulate information about this process later this month.
